SCAR CAMOUFLAGE

SCAR CAMOUFLAGE

Scar camouflage tattoo is an advanced micropigmentation procedure using colour pigments to blend and camouflage hyperpigmented scar tissue to your natural skin tonesimilar to stretch mark camouflage treatment. We will assess your natural skin tone and discuss the history of your scar.

We will then discuss the colour that would be suited to your skin tone. Lifestyle choices including sun exposure, as well as, predisposed tanning habits of your skin will be discussed as these are incredibly important factors to allow for seasonal variations in your skin tone where the tattooed area will be more noticeable. Health factors including your use of medications and hormonal imbalances will also play a role in decision making for your best possible result. Prior to skin camouflage procedures Skin Needling or other laser resurfacing procedures may be recommended to improve the overall skin texture allowing for optimal implantation of colour pigment or for the purpose of lightening pink or purple areas.

How long does the result last?

Scar camouflage is a penetrative skin treatment using permanent tattoo pigments. This means that the results last indefinitely, provided that the correct after care procedures are adhered to. As with any tattoo ink, this will fade slowly over time, but the pigments we use should not change colour. With stretch mark tattoo camouflage, the dilution of the ink is increased for natural result, meaning they do not last as long as a regular decorative tattoo. The longevity of results varies greatly depending on many factors such as a person’s immune system, sun exposure, products used on the skin and adhering to the aftercare whilst the treatment is healing. On average the results can last anywhere from 3 to 7 years and touch ups are available. We cannot predict how your skin will react with the pigments and how quickly it will fade, so we can only advise on averages. The pigment doesn’t last as long as a traditional tattoo due to the dilutions required for natural results. Please also keep in mind that needling the skin even without ink can help improve the appearance of stretch marks, so even when the pigment fades, they should appear better than they were initially before the treatment.

In which layer do we insert the pigments?

The dermis is the part of the skin where pigment is introduced during pigmentation processes.

If the pigment is inserted too deep into the dermis, the pigment will certainly expand over time. However, if the pigment intake is too shallow, it will fade too quickly. In this case, there is still the possibility of correction, so in the beginning it is better to be careful and to repeat the procedure several times.

The depth of input is thus crucial for the stability of the pigments.

What is typical for healing phase?

The treated area is swollen and red. Treated area can also have intense colour which will fade in the final step. You will notice a lighter tone of the introduced pigment, which will be partially modified and stabilized all the way up to a maximum of 8 weeks.

What happens when you tan camouflage?

Scars are tissue that lost collagen. When they are healed, they turn white. So the contrast between your normal skin and scars in seen.
Once we camouflage the scar the pigment blends with your skin tone.
So, when you tan, the camouflaged area does not tan, but, since we camouflaged the area, the contrast is less obvious. In comparison with white scars the camouflage is still a lot less obvious change in colour.

    Our Clients' Reviews

I have received many compliments, and as I don’t wear much makeup to cover up my scar other than foundation and blush, I feel my minimal makeup looks enhanced! I treated myself and yes it paid off!
